Doubts concerning Ptolemy

al-Shukūk ʿalā Baṭlamyūs

A thoroughgoing critique of Ptolemy's Almagest, Planetary Hypotheses and Optics, showing in great detail where Ptolemy had violated the principles of natural philosophy. It concerns whether the models that produce retrograde motion are physically admissible, not retrograde motion itself; no discussion of stations has been found in it.

  1. Myth 01

Not an explanation of retrograde motion: the book questions Ptolemy's models, not the phenomenon.
